ウィスコンシン州ミルウォーキー市出身、アラバマ州にある大学を卒業してかサンフランシスコへ。小学校の先生と教会の宣教師の間に生まれ育った彼の持つ思想はユニークで彼の曲作りに大いに影響している。硬く無くそれでもって一つ二つ考えさせられる歌詞は彼の性格がよく出ている。その反面大らかでリラックスした一面ものぞかせるなどこれから注目したいアンダーのアーティストの一人。2008年デビューアルバム「Heat 4
Ya Speakaz」をリリースし、現在は新しく結成したバンドMusical Mutiny （ミュージカル・ミューティニー）と共にアルバムのレコーディング中。

Leader 1
Born and raised in the city of Milwaukee, WI, underground emcee Leader1 was
summoned to the Bay Area of California after completing undergraduate studies
in Tuskegee, Alabama. Having a solid upbringing by an elementary school teacher
and a minister has given him an interesting perspective on today's world, which
can be heard through his songs. This man blesses microphones with a range of
influences from having lived in the Mid-West, Dirty South, and West Coast,
adding some East Coast lyricism, to make him a well-rounded artist that proves
versatility.
One can hear topics discussed with heavy political undertones, as well as
tracks that are more mellow, to those simply describing the in's and out's of
daily life. His music appeals to a wide variety of music lovers because of his
unique style and blend of the elements that are missing from a lot of today's
"fly by night" rappers who lack substance. He has the ability of
selecting a superb selection of production, which likely stems not only from
training in percussion instruments as a youth, but also a deep passion for
harmonies and melodies.
When not doing his solo hip-hop music or working on collaborations with
other like-minded artists, he is the enthusiastic leader of a 5 piece "hip-jazz"
band that goes by the name Musical Mutiny. Look for Leader 1 to help save
the planet and continue to make moves in 2008 ＆ beyond! |
