ジャニーン・カーターは、両親と祖母の影響で、幼少のころからゴスペルやジャズ、ブルースに親しんできた。このペンシルヴェニア発の女性にとって、音楽は常に生活の一部だった。彼女は教会のクワイヤのメンバーとして音楽の旅を始め、その後ブロードウェイのエキサイティングなミュージカルを何本か上演した。そして、ペンシルヴェニアのバッハ合唱団のメンバーとして、ソロ活動へと発展するチャンスをつかむ。ワシントンDCに引っ越した後、1996年の夏、DCエリアのニュー・ジェネシス・バプテスト教会でデビュー・コンサートを行い、それ以来、この聖なる歌姫は飛び続けている。
ジャニーンは、数々のゴスペル・シンガーたち(Tramaine
Hawkins, Oleta Adams, Regina Bell, Ann Nesby and Donnie McClurkin and Sweet
Honey in the Rock)と共演した後、2001年からロニー・ウェルズ・エリストン、ロン・エリストンという地元のジャズ・シンガーたちと、ホワイトハウスのイベントやワシントンDCの主要なジャズ・スポットで活動を始める。さらに、ジャニーンは2003年のFMJSコンテストと2004年の市長杯ビリー・ホリデイ・ボーカル・コンテストで決勝戦出場、2005年アメリカの伝統的な、ジョージア州のサバンナ・ミュージック・フェスティバルで準々決勝に出場した。
“A Song For You” のリリースは、ジャニーンの４枚目の作品となる。これまでに彼女は２つの異なったジャンルで３枚のCDをリリースしている。(ジャズで) “In the Moment”、(ゴスペルで) “God Spoke To Me”と年４回行われるFMJSのゴスペル・コンサートでのライブ ”Janine Gilbert-Carter
& Friends”。ジャニーンの願いは、彼女の音楽を聴くすべての人にポジティブな影響を与え、音楽を通して温かさと愛をあふれさせるということだ。

Janine Carter was introduced to gospel, jazz and blues at a very early
age by her parents and grandmother. This Pennsylvania native cannot remember
a time when music was not a part of her very existence. She began her musical
journey as a member of the choir at her church and later had the opportunity
to expand on her solo performances as a member of the Bach Choir of PA
which performed some of Broadway's most exciting musicals. After relocating
to the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, she performed her debut concert
in the DC area at New Genesis Baptist Church in the summer of 1996 and
this celestial songbird has been flying ever since.
After performing with such gospel acts as the Washington Performing Arts
Society Men & Women of the Gospel Mass Choir, Tramaine Hawkins, Oleta
Adams, Regina Bell, Ann Nesby and Donnie McClurkin and Sweet Honey in the Rock,
Janine began working with local jazz musical talents Ronnie Wells-Elliston and
Ron Elliston from 2001 performing at various leading DC jazz venues as well as
several prestigious White House Events. Even more, Janine was a finalist in the
2003 FMJS competition, 2004 Mayor's Billie Holiday vocal competition and a
quarter finalist in the 2005 Americans traditions competition in Savannah, GA.
With the Release of "A Song For You," this will mark Janine's Fourth
musical exploration. She has released three previous CD's in two different
genres; (Jazz) "In the Moment" and (Gospel) "God Spoke To
Me" and "Janine Gilbert-Carter & Friends," Live at the FMJS
quarterly gospel concert. Janine's prayer is to have a positive effect on all
that hear her music and to exude the feeling of warmth and love through her
music. |
