Rachael Sage is truly a renaissance performer. Self-taught on the piano from age 3, she went on to study at The School of American Ballet in her adolescence, and later earned a degree in Drama from Stanford University. Following Shakespearean studies at The New York Public Theater and a one-year stint with New York City's renowned Actors Studio, Sage rediscovered her passion for songwriting and took the New York City music scene by storm.
She has been compared to such artists as Laura Nyro for her gorgeous piano
driven melodies, and to Patti Smith for her dynamic poetry and emotional
intensity. Sage has earned media accolades for her songwriting talents,
including Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the Billboard
Songwriting Award and First Prize in The Lilith Fair Talent Search. While
on tour in France earlier this year, her music was discovered by Judy Collins,
who invited her to perform at several of her Wildflower Festivals along
with Joan Osborne. Sage has also recently shared stages with Liz Phair
and Melissa Etheridge.
